'john lennon: in their own write, a loving tribute from his friends and fans, by Judith Furedi.
Lucky & Me Productions, Inc., New York, New York.

There have been literally hundreds of books written over the years about the Beatles in general and John Lennon in particular. Many of them are excellent and many of them are not. Most tell the same story that we have all come to know so well, but there has never been one that has come from the fans, those fans who were so influenced by John but may not have had the opportunity to meet him. In other words, the real fans. That is...until now.

Judith Furedi reached out to John's friends and fans for stories, tributes, anecdotes, and art and brought together a beautiful myriad of feelings on the impact that he had on people from the day of his birth to the end of his life and beyond. Friends such as Sid Bernstein (who provides the foreword) and May Pang add insight to the man while everyday fans, with their poetry, remembrances, and images, convey the love and respect they hold in their hearts. John didn't just pass through our lives, he inspired us and made us who we are.

Interspersed among the text and personal tributes are photos of John's 'haunts' by photographer David Beckerman as well as many original color photographs taken by Furedi herself. There are also lavish illustrations from professional artists and from fans that have never been published that compliment the tributes and text. The book also includes a CD 'john lennon: in their own write, the spoken word,' by Ken Gierke. **** (authors note: this will be followed by readings of Sid Bernstein).

The really unique feature of this book is the addition of an 'interactive' page in each chapter, titled 'in your own write,' which allows readers to make this book their own by including their own thoughts, images, or memorabilia. Readers can also leave the page blank in order to leave the book in its original design.

'john lennon: in their own write,' is a 9" x 9" soft cover coffee table book that has glossy cover with a black and white photo of fans on the 'Imagine' circle in Central Park. The book is printed on heavy stock paper that will allow numerous readings while maintaining a pristine look. The style is loving in presentation.

As I read the book, I could feel the emotions of the words and illustrations and what Lennon meant to those who contributed in every piece I read. It is rare for a book to project those feelings from the page to the reader and when it accomplishes this, it's great.

Simply put, 'john lennon: in their own write, a loving tribute from his friends and fans' is a must read for every Lennon and Beatle fan. This book gets a grade of A plus.

Past Reviews for DEAR JOHN LENNON: LETTERS FROM A FAN IN NEW YORK CITY

"Beautiful...Brilliant...Unique...It Made Me Cry. Judith Furedi's book, Dear John, has to be one of the most sensitive books I have ever seen about New York's and it's lost minstrel, John Lennon. Each time I open its pages, my heart sighs again with nostalgic joy because I feel not only pain, but innocent love. It is a book to keep next to your bedside for inspiration when your soul has lost track of its wistful dreams.
